The aim of this program is to enable the chiropractor to understand the birth process, both normal and abnormal and the stresses this entails for the newborn infant. Chiropractic treatment of the pregnant female is an important factor in avoiding birth trauma and is looked at in detail. Examination of the neonate and lesion identification for common neonatal presentations will be covered. The treatment of childhood conditions amenable to chiropractic care will be covered in detail as will correction of skull strain patterns for the newborn and infants. Major emphasis is placed on hands-on skill development for the chiropractor.
Session #1: June 14-15, 2008
*Chiropractic management of the pregnant female and the birth process.
*Management of pain syndromes associated with pregnancy.
*Management of visceral dysfunction associated with pregnancy.
*Intra-uterine constraint-theory and practical
*Delivery room techniques for malpresentation/dystocia
*Birth trauma
*Neonatal and infant examination
Session #2: July 19-20, 2008
*Signs and symptoms of birth trauma
*KISS syndrome
*Chiropractic Spinal Examination: neonate and infants
*Spinal Adjusting
*Neonatal skull and chiropractic cranial examination
*Pediatric Cranial Corrections
Session #3: September 27-28, 2008
*Plagiocephaly: Differential diagnosis
*Skull strain patterns and corrections
*Common chiropractic and pediatric syndromes
*Each syndrome includes presentation, diagnosis, corrections including soft tissue, visceral manipulation, cranial, diet and supplemenation
*Syndromes such as infant sucking disorders, colic, astham, otitis media, ADHD, nocturnal enuresis, dyslexia/dyspraxia, reflux, bowel disorders.
